  • The first YMCA in the United States opened in Boston, MA

International News:

  • A reign of terror is beginning to emerge in France. On a daily basis a government department is under siege.
  • News from Jamaica reports that since it’s arrival on the island, the disease of cholera has claimed 40,000 lives.
